Mats for karate and judo
ProGame Tatami by Trocellen
ProGame develops tatami mats with athletes' needs, federation requirements and each martial art's competition rules in mind. Here we present the WKF mat for karate and I-TIS Competition for judo – two different constructions for different uses.
The materials, surface and interlocking design are adapted to the intended use. A lightweight mat system makes installation and handling easier when a training or competition area needs to be changed.
Karate
ProGame WKF Approved
The classic WKF Approved mat is a reversible interlocking mat for karate. Its combination of firmness and a slip-resistant surface is designed to support balance, footwork and rapid changes of direction during training and competition.
- Dimensions
- 1 000 × 1 000 mm
- Thickness
- 20 mm
- Colours
- Red/blue, reversible
- Construction
- Interlocking polyethylene foam mat
Materials and features
- Closed-cell polyethylene foam with uniform density.
- A slip-resistant rice-straw pattern provides grip underfoot.
- Precision-cut interlocking edges hold the assembled surface together.
- Reversible mats allow training and competition areas to be marked out in different shapes and sizes.
- Laser-printed WKF marking and ProGame/Trocellen branding on the version described in the product sheet.
- Low weight and a surface that can be cleaned according to the manufacturer's instructions.
The earlier product description also states waterproof, hypoallergenic, antibacterial and antifungal properties. Ask us for documentation for the model being supplied if any of these properties is a requirement for your organisation.
Testing and fire classification
The manufacturer's product sheet describes HIC testing to EN 1177 and testing to NF EN 12503-1 at CRITT. It also states that a special flame-retardant version with a Dfl-s1 classification is available on request. This fire classification should therefore not be assumed to apply to every standard mat.
Classic WKF Approved and Green WKF Approved are different models. The WKF's current presentation of ProGame features the Green model. The information above concerns the classic mat in the linked product sheet. When quoting, we confirm the model, availability and applicable current approval.
Judo
ProGame I-TIS Competition IJF Approved
I-TIS Competition was developed for international judo competitions. It combines a traditional tatami surface with low weight and a concealed interlocking system: Invisible Trocellen Interlocking System, I-TIS.
- Dimensions
- 2,000 × 1,000 mm; the manufacturer also lists 1,000 × 1,000 mm
- Thickness
- 50 mm
- Colours in the version described
- Red/yellow – confirmed in the quotation
- Interlocking design
- Concealed I-TIS system
Materials, surface and installation
- Cross-linked, closed-cell polyethylene foam with uniform density.
- Rice-straw-patterned PVC surface with rounded edges and corners.
- Concealed connections hold the mats together and allow installation without a surrounding timber frame, following the manufacturer's installation system.
- The manufacturer states a weight around 70 percent lower than traditional tatami mats. This makes transport, installation and cleaning easier.
- Washable and waterproof construction; the manufacturer describes the model as hypoallergenic and VOC-free.
- ProGame branding and the model's approval marking. Check the markings on the supplied mats against their documentation.
The interlocking design is intended to keep the mats in place and reduce gaps during use. The manufacturer's product information describes the system as patented and refers to patent EP3672700. Follow the instructions for the subfloor, installation and care.
Approval, impact absorption and fire classification
The manufacturer presents the model as IJF Approved and developed for international judo competition. Trocellen also appears on the IJF supplier list. Check that the chosen model and supplied mats meet the requirements of the event.
The current product page lists HIC testing to EN 1177 and a Euroclass E fire classification. It also mentions a special flame-retardant version with Euroclass C. Order the correct version from the outset if your venue has specific fire requirements. A fire class is a documented classification, not a promise that a mat is fire-safe in every situation.
You can also ask us about customisation for your facility or event. The version, colours and any customisation are confirmed in the quotation.
Product sheets, approvals and quotations
Tell us which martial art the mats will be used for, the size of the area and whether it is for training or competition. Include any fire requirements. We can help you choose a model and obtain product sheets, installation instructions and documentation for the proposed supply.
Older homologation certificates from 2021 are historical records. Before competing, check the current approval for the exact model alongside the organiser's requirements.
